This summer sees us excited to hit our key milestone in celebrating our 60th anniversary in operation.
Clifford Watkins first established our business in 1962 primarily working for house builders in Kent. He was soon joined by his son Wyn who worked for him as an installer and later took over the reins of the business in the 1970s. At that time, Watkins employed just a handful of men with the office based in Wyn’s lounge.
Since then, our Kent-based company has grown significantly and is now recognised as one of the leading London and South-East M&E contractors, having worked on prestigious projects such as Queens Wharf in Central London, and The Lexicon on City Road.
In recognition of the team’s dedication and commitment to the company over the past 60 years and to help mark this notable milestone, we want to say a special thank you to each employee, kicking off with a summer-time boat party along the River Thames in July.
Marc Harris, Group Services Director, comments
Over the last six decades, our team have forged a reputation for continued innovation having responded to client needs by including mechanical, electrical, PPM, design and ongoing support services within their core offering, providing a fully integrated process under one roof. Most recently, we have put a focus on sustainability, demonstrating our commitment to being a responsible service provider.
The last year has been an exciting time for Watkins. Milestones include the launch of our Sister Company, Watkins Energy, who provide meter and billing services. Over the next few months, we will launch our specialist training and apprenticeship division, Watkins Academy.
