History

WATKINS PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL SERVICES HAS, SINCE 1962, ESTABLISHED A REPUTATION FOR EXCELLENCE, BASED ON TRUST.

Clifford Watkins first established his plumbing business in 1962 primarily working for house builders in Kent. He was soon joined by his son Wyn who worked for him as an installer. Wyn took over the reins of the business in the 1970s. At that time, Watkins employed just a handful of men, with the office based in Wyn’s lounge.

Under Wyn’s astute leadership, the company grew and began to take on larger contracts for national house builders. The expansion continued throughout the 1980s and by 1989 the company was able to move to new, purpose built premises in Ramsgate, Kent.

Sadly Wyn passed away in 2009, but by that time he had created a solid company structure which would enable Watkins to thrive even without him.

Now in 2013, the company has three distinct businesses, Watkins Mechanical, Watkins Electrical and Watkins Plumbing which between them provide the full range of M&E services to the residential and commercial sectors. The company is managed by an experienced board of 4 directors and is still privately owned by the Watkins family.
